Warranty and returns, in full
This is the actual policy that stands behind every part sold at 328 Patterson Rd, Joliet, not a summary of it. Read it before you buy, not after, so nothing here is a surprise. Tax is charged on all parts, and every term below applies whether the part was picked up at the counter or delivered.
The 90-day limited warranty
Every used auto part we sell carries a 90-day limited warranty, and mechanical parts are guaranteed for that same 90 days. There are no cash refunds unless a part cannot be replaced, and no refunds or exchanges without a receipt. Keep it until you are sure the part is right.
What the engine warranty covers, and what it does not
The engine warranty is strictly limited to replacement of a defective long block: the block, the crank, the pistons, the connecting rods, the complete heads and the assembly. That is the whole of the cover.
It does not cover intake or exhaust manifolds, gaskets, oil pans, distributors, alternators, A/C compressors, power steering pumps, fuel pumps, carburettors, fuel injection systems, spark plugs, filters or water pumps. If one of those fails after fitting, it is outside this warranty, so it is worth checking the condition of anything you are reusing before the engine goes in.
Installation by a certified mechanic
The engine must be installed by a certified mechanic for the warranty to be effective. This is a condition of the cover, not a suggestion, and it is worth knowing before the engine leaves the counter rather than after a claim.
Returns and the restocking fee
There are no returns on special orders or on items sold as is, and no returns after 90 days. Where a return is approved, it gets a partial refund less a restocking fee of $20 or 25 percent, whichever is greater.
The core policy
A core must be returned within 90 days, drained of fluids, with the invoice. There is no refund without the invoice, and no refund after 90 days, so hold on to it from the day of purchase.
Electrical parts and body parts
Electrical parts carry no refunds. All body parts are sold as is. Check fit and colour code on both before you leave the counter, because neither can be unwound afterward.
How to make a claim
Call the warranty line at 800-750-3408, or come to 328 Patterson Rd, Joliet, IL 60436 with your invoice. Defective engines are returned to A-Affordable Auto Parts, Inc. For anything else, the counter can be reached at (815) 249-4215. Bring the invoice either way. It is what makes a core refund and a warranty claim possible, so it is worth keeping with the part until the 90 days are up.
